Summer Reading Program Pin Design Contest: "Level Up!"

Get ready to unlock your creativity! Our Summer Reading Program is all about leveling up, and we want YOU to help design our weekly pins that celebrate the fun of reading and the excitement of reaching new milestones. The theme is “Level Up!” Readers are empowered to challenge themselves, discover new worlds, and grow with every book completed.

Contest Details

How to Enter: Pick up an entry form from a librarian. Submit your design on the front of the page, by March 3rd, to the staff in the Children’s Room or the circulation desk.

Design Guidelines:

  • Your design should incorporate the "Level Up!" theme.
  • It can feature books, reading symbols, or anything that represents growth, achievement, or adventure.
  • Pins should be bold, colorful, and fun—something that catches the eye and encourages others to participate.
  • Designs must be original and suitable for a pin (clear, simple, and able to be reproduced in a small size as shown on the front of the page).

Winners:  Winners will be selected to have their designs featured on the weekly pins.

Submission Deadline: March 3rd

This is your chance to see your design on a pin worn by readers all summer long! So, grab your creative tools and get started on your journey to “Level Up!”

Wednesdays at 3:30pm

Join Miss Sadie for Little Imaginations. This is a 30-minute program designed to engage your child with essential early literacy activities, including reading, playing, singing, counting, writing, and talking. Each week, we explore a new theme: Art, Music & Movement, Literary Characters, and Imaginative Play.

Designed for kids aged 3+.

Bubbly Babies

Thursdays and Fridays at 10am

Miss Carla will delight your babies with bubbles, rhymes, songs and stories.

Caregivers are encouraged to participate in this active storytime and stay for some social time with other caregivers and babies.

Designed for kids Birth-2 years of age.

paws to read

Paws to Read

Ages 6+

3:00-4:00pm | Monthly

Sign up for a reading appointment with a special reading dog. They provide a “judgement-free zone” for emerging readers and a welcoming audience for fluent readers who love to read aloud. Reading appointments are for 10 minutes. See calendar to register.

Ages 2+ | 2:30-4:30pm | Fridays

Come play at the library with your friends! Each Friday we'll put out a different activity. Race hot wheels, build with blocks, trade Reading Dragons cards, build with Legos! Something fun to do every Friday afternoon! See the calendar for details.

Reading Dragons

Reading Dragons is a reading program with playing / trading cards that kids can collect, play with, and trade from October to May. Each month that you complete your reading, you’ll earn a new pack.

Once a month, we will have a Friday afternoon open play. Come in and see what it is all about, or if you have cards from last year, come in and play. 

 

Geared to kids 5-16.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) is an early literacy initiative that encourages families to read to their young children.

How can you break it down?

  • 1 book a day for 3 years = 1000
  • 3 books a day for one year = 1000
  • 10 books a week for two years = 1000

You can repeat books as many times as you'd like, and storytime books count too!

After registering below, visit the Children's Room to get your coloring log sheets to track books read. When you complete 500 books, come into the Children's room for a prize and the next coloring sheet log.
