Ongoing Programs

Book Clubs

  • Story Club for kids, and parents, too… (grades 1 and 2) | 1st Mon. of each month @ 6:30pm

Story Club is designed especially for our primary school kids.  Each month, we’ll send home one book with our families,  to be read together. When we gather the next month, we’ll share another story or two on a similar theme, and then complete an  activity that relates to the books we’re reading. In this way, we’ll be able to introduce some fairly complex stories, spark some  wonderful discussions, have a little snack and a lot of fun!

  • Families Read Together for parents and kids (grades 3-4) | 2nd Wed. of each month @ 6:30 pm

Families Read Together is a club for older elementary kids and their parents.  Each month, we send home a chapter book for both parents and children to read (either together, or each on their own).  When we get together the next month, we discuss the book, do a book-related activity, and share a snack.  We select books from a wide variety of genres, and we always have some great discussions and lots of fun!
  • The Great Stone Face Club (grades 5-6) | 1st Wed. of each month @ 6:30pm

Come read books from a “master list” of the newest kids’ fiction. You can choose any book you’d like from the list—we don’t all read the same thing at the same time. Then we “score” the books we read on a scale of 1-10. We meet to talk, talk, talk about our books, and to share the scores we’ve given. We can be very opinionated! Oh, and we snack while we talk! You can read one book a month, or you can read as many as you’d like.
  • Popcorn & Oreo-Eating Monsters Club (P.O.E.M.) (gr. 7-9) | 3rd Wed. of each month @ 6:30pm

This is our club for older middle-schoolers.  It’s a time for free-wheeling discussion of the books we love to read.  We review the books we’ve been enjoying, suggest books for each other, and, of course, we snack!  From time to time, we decide to read the same book at the same time, and discuss that, or to see a film based on a book, and discuss that.  Whatever we do, it’s always fun!

Minecraft Club

Thursday afternoons from 3:30 - 4:30pm

Minecraft Club provides an opportunity for kids who love to play the game to get together and share tips, advice, and excitement.  Bring your own laptop or tablet if possible, or the library has a few available for club use.  This is a club for kids who can play independently—basic instruction is not available.  For kids ages 7 and up.  Register online.

Come and Build!

3rd Friday of every month from 3:00pm-4:30pm

Here's your chance to get together with some friends and spend the afternoon building, chatting, and just plain having fun. So come on down to the library to explore the way the world works--with our assortment of manipulative building toys.   Kids ages 4 and up.   No registration required.
