Storytime- Fall 2017

Here at the Amherst town Library, children and their families are very important to us...we know that early introduction to libraries helps to develop lifelong readers!  We offer story programs for children from the time they're born right up until they enter kindergarten.

Family Storytime

Tuesdays at 10:00am:  September 4 to December 11

Wednesdays at 10:00am:  September 5 to December 12

toddler time

Our family storytimes are for the entire family to enjoy.  We begin every session with a welcoming routine.  We follow that with a simple story or two targeted primarily at the younger children in the group (but still plenty of fun for the older ones!).
After that, we'll move on to stories that require a little more focus.  If your youngest children are getting "antsy" at that point, you are welcome to bring them out to play in the main room, making sure to come back to join us for the concluding routines and craft at the end of each program.

Little Listeners

Lapsit Storytime

Birth to 30 months | Caregivers present

Thursdays at 10:30am:  September 7 to December 14

Fridays at 10:30am:  September 8 to December 15

baby listeners

Our youngest group offers an opportunity for babies, young toddlers and their caregivers to gather for rhymes, songs and puppets. This 30-minute program emphasizes traditional rhymes that reinforce language patterns and provide for parent/child interaction.  A simple book or two intended for this age is generally highlighted.  In recognition of the importance of socializing opportunities for caregivers of very young children, coffee is available before and after the program.
