This week, peek into the past, with a look at The Franklin Society. On September 16, 1807, the Franklin Society formed with the mission to improve the literary pursuits of each member. Every second Wednesday the Franklin Society would meet for declamations, readings, and literary discussions based on a particular question. For instance one of their discussions was centered on the question, “Does increasing our knowledge increase our happiness?”  For eleven years they met and recorded the details of their meetings in The Franklin Society book.
