This week, peek into the past, with a look at Report of the Treasurer, Overseers of the Poor and Trustees of the Library of the Town of Amherst for the Year Ending March 1st, 1882.  This report contains information provided by the Town Treasurer, Pauper Farm, and the Town Library Trustees. Some of the information reported by the Library Trustees notes that the Amherst Town Library was open only on Saturdays, had a collection of 930 books, and was loaning books to about 33 patrons per week. Did you know that ten years after this report was published the Amherst Town Library would dedicate their first building on April 30, 1892?
